Kathryn has been asking us to get her a big girl bike. She hasn't quite outgrown the tricycle, however, her knees do bump into the basket with every cycle, so we thought it was time. We actually have been looking for a good bike for her since the fall hoping to get a good deal on something she could use this year.

We needed to get Patrick a new helmet this year, so we headed to the store to get him one that fit properly. Kathryn always wants to try out the bikes, but there haven't been any her size (or colour - Ms. Pickey wanted a 'girls bike'.) This time there was a lovely pink pixie bike and she tried her darndest to ride it in the store. Unlike her tricycle, you can't peddle backwards on a 'big girl bike' because thats how you stop. It took her some time to figure it out, but after multiple trips (we weren't buying it unless she could show us she could learn to ride it) she figured it out! So on Saturday, we brought it home. It was freezing cold outside but the kids really wanted to go for a bikeride. Splashpants and mittens were needed and we did have a good 10-minute bikeride. Kathryn was so proud of her big-girl bike!
They're growing up so fast!
