Potty Success!

Its so nice to post about success, especially with bathroom stuff! Lots of you know what a journey this has been. And I have been contemplating blogging the entire history of potty training in our house... partly for posterity and partly as hope for anyone else encountering the same issues we have faced.

But for now, I'm just happy to post about success.

Kathryn has been talking about wearing undies for the past few weeks. Her best friend has been potty trained for a while now, and I think that was part of the motivation. After a couple of false-starts, she decided this past Friday that she was ready. We happily put her in undies and waited for puddles again, but were pleasently surprised when that did not happen! The entire weekend she only had 1 big accident and a few smaller ones AND by Sunday she was telling us when she needed to go to the potty. She has been dry and clean since then with only 1 small accident at daycare on Monday. We are so excited and proud of her.

By co-incidence (or perhaps because of one-up-manship) Patrick decided this past weekend that he was going to start pooping in the potty. He still requires us to prompt him... and encourage him... and dole out lots of praise, but since Friday he has been exclusively using the potty for everything!

In celebration, last night we took the kids out and they each got to get a pack of new undies - any kind they wanted. Patrick choose Cars and Kathryn choose Barbie ones. They were very excited to wear them to school today!

Shaun and I, besides being very happy and proud and excited for the success and progress the kids are making, are also very happy at the prospect of not having to change any diapers for a couple of months until William arrives. We're also happy about the $$ we'll be saving by only using 1 pull up a day (nighttime).
